It seems like forever since I’ve been here-and it has.

No, I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth but I have been busy, after all, I’m still a dad and I’m still a doctor. I also have a couple books in the works (one political of course). And we can’t forget that it is Halloween; my favorite time of year.

As you might recall, my political and medical rants were beginning to cause me grief at the hospital and in fact I’ve changed hospitals since. I keep a low profile-for now; If Pissydoc gets published I might yet end up peeling potatoes.

I do want to encourage everyone who visits this site to get out and vote on November 2^nd regardless of your political persuasion but I especially hope the democrats make a good showing. I was once a proud demi and even though I’m better now I also realize that the parties keep each other in check. More importantly, since my last blog, I realize many have become disillusioned with the antics of their party, and understandably so. It is up to you to clean your own room kids and who knows, perhaps you’ll be doing the Prez a favor. Billie became a stronger president after a midterm election and it gave him a second term (thanks Newt). Who knows, it could happen for O’bla Bla.   

I do have a warning for our future legislators. The American public has no stomach left for nonsense. If you don’t stand by your words and get the job done, the next congressional revolution will be a lot uglier. You’re actions will be watched closer than any other congress in history.

Final word tonight; to those of you still capable of sleeping at night after defending the underhanded, deceitful, and dare I say  traitorous (to the Constitutional foundations of this country) behavior of our current administration and especially the majority party of the congress: Better buy those tickets to France now—the party is over!

P.S. To Mr Bill O’Riley. I have developed a great deal of respect for your evenhandedness but you’ve betrayed yourself as human. The ladies (I’m being generous) on The View called you out for (unintentionally) blaming “Muslims”  for terrorist activity around the world. You would have done well to correct yourself and move on but instead you beat the issue to death and in the process became a Pinhead. I’m currently reading your latest book, Pinheads and Patriots and you clearly defined the situation your in now. Fogetaboutit, and move on.

Information  about Gonorrhea Lectim

The Centers for Disease Control has  issued a warning about a new virulent
strain of this old disease. The  disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim. It’s
pronounced “Gonna re-elect  ’em,”  and it is a terrible obamanation.

The disease is  contracted through dangerous and high risk  behavior
involving putting your cranium up your rectum. Many victims contracted  it
in 2008…but now most people, after having been infected for the past  1-2
years, are starting to realize how destructive this sickness is.

It’s sad because Gonorrhea Lectim is easily cured with a new  drug just
coming on the market called Votemout. You take the first dose in  2010 and
the second dose in 2012 and simply don’t engage in such behavior  again;
otherwise, it could become permanent and eventually wipe out  all life as we
know it.

Several states are already on top of  this, like Virginia and New Jersey,
and apparently now Massachusetts, with  many more seeing the writing on the
wall.

Please pass this  important message on to all the bright folk you really
care  about.

Da wife and I were at the casino with friends, something we honestly do 1-2X/year max. One of my friends did well on the penny slots and I jokingly snatched her winnings ticket and said I would not give it back unless she showed me her papers–My friend is mexican.

Well, I was immediately assaulted by another couple–who looked as though they had no business wasting money at a casino. This one lady was doing the head-neck swirly thing while she barked accusations of being a racist at me.

In pushes my diminutive mexican friend waving her driver’s license. “Here are my papers bitch, we all carry them and I’m getting sick and tired of being drug down by illegals and people like you. I worked for my citizenship and I’m proud of it… Illegals should be thrown out and you can go with them to…”

Talk about something incredibly unnecessary. I agree with my friend and I’m getting really tired of stupid people, but hey–freedom of speech is sometimes also freedom to express ignorance.

But I’m not ignorant because I take the time out to learn about these things before I open my big dumb ass mouth (most of the time). Therefores lets me ejumicate doze others about two inpotent issues arizin’ from our enlightened intercourse of last evening:

A: Immigration and Arizona

1) The Arizona bill does not empower officials in that state beyond what is already authorized by the US government.

2) Officials found detaining suspected illegals without warrant can and will be held accountable.

3) the problem with illegals exists, a city is being destroyed, jobs are being lost, the lives of citizens are endangered, AND Arizona has been crying for help but these cries have been ignored by a government that no longer feels obliged to operate within the confines of the constitution–including the responsibility to protect our borders.

4) If the federal government had acknowledged Arizona’s cries perhaps Arizona would not have had to step in and take action itself.

5) Once again, for government officials to spout off about what is right or wrong without taking time to learn the facts is laughable–again! Over and Over and Over and Over. Eric Holder–you need a new fricken job!

6) People who continue to find excuses for the reckless stupidity in Washington, who continue making excuses for these people and their methods are just as criminal. Too bad I can’t help vote you out of the country-AMERICA, land of OPPORTUNITY-not freebies or handouts.

B: assassination

At some point last night people started talking about assassination. Thats when I knew we had hit the pinnacle of stupidity and ignorance. I don’t like Obama but ARE YOU FRICKEN KIDDING ME? We’re Americans and this does not happen. Anyone who would even play with the idea is traitorous. We have a constitution that empowers us to change government at the voting booth. Such talk demeans others who are working so hard to get the county on the right track.

So long as the power to vote is not taken away or otherwise undermined (by creating and empowering a biased majority) America will stand. The neat thing about ignorance is that it can be fixed.

On the lighter side, the best security Barrack has is the presidencial line of succession.

Last note, only cause I know your reading this Richard. I really did like Bill Clinton and yes, I would have taken Hilary over Oblahblah in a heart beat–if only to watch her beat the crap out of Pelosi. Hilary’s got balls and I can’t wait to see her take down Oblahblah in 2012.

Another last note: If you want a reason to get tough with illegals, here is another. That mexican friend of mine has two sons–I think the oldest is 10. They related a story about a new kid at school who also happens to be latino. Richard (their dad) suggested that the boys need to be more sensitive especially since they are half latino too. One of the boys was shocked and started to cry. This is really sad and the solution is not sensitivity classes. The solution is ELIMINATE THE UNDERLYING CAUSE. Mexico has a rich history and it is getting lost in the wake of this controversy–which is caused by the illegals not by the people saying “Hey I wonder it they’re illegal.”

OK, he’s back. The 35 year old, end stage renal disease, druggie, raper of children, assaulter of the elderly; the guy who during his last visit to the ICU tried to attack a nurse and his nephrologist. He is here every month for dialysis because no one else will take him. Each visit costs $10-30k that the hospital has to absorb (government is not paying for this crap).

So tell me, why does this guy deserve more compassion than those who through no fault of their own have lost their home, or had to pull out of school, or scrounge trash bins to feed their family?

MISPLACED COMPASSION IS THE MOST DANGEROUS THREAT AGAINST SOCIETY

I’ve spent the better part of my medical career practicing in the ER or in ER management. It is really sad what has happened to this field. At the hospital where I work now, the ER physicians practice “check your brain at the door” crowd control. My daughter uses her brains more than these guys. They give you half truth reports and outright lie just so I’ll accept the patient. Avoiding pelvic exams is like a video game (ok, it was for me too), and half the time won’t recognize sepsis even if spelt out for them.

The sad thing is that patients are being hurt. When we had a hospital full of H1N1, these bone heads were admitting little old ladies with bladder infections and other minor issues. Last evening, I get this big report about a person with chest pain and risk for heart attack so she gets admitted for the routine serial blood tests and stress cardiolyte. The stress returns positive but its a false positive; it took a cardiologist and cardiac cath to figure that out. Thank god she didn’t have a complication and hope she doesn’t mind the $xxxxx.xx expense. Interestingly, her story is absolutely inconsistent with cardiac disease and all of this could have been avoided if the ER doctor just did his job. I talked to the ER doc: “Hey, I got to cover my ass…”

This brings up my last point. This specific situation happens several times a day and costs tens of thousands of dollars unnecessarily. I know we practice a lot of “protect your butt” medicine, but you have to draw the line somewhere. This state has reasonable safe guards in place against predatory lawsuits; The ER doctor admitted the patient because he was lazy and chose not to use his brain–just that simple. Too bad it was the department chief.

A word to the wise to the American College of Emergency Medicine: If you don’t use the talents of a physician in the performance of your duties, one day you’ll be replaced by lower level care providers. Why would any system continue to pay premium dollars for decision-making a nurse practitioner or 1st year medical student can provide? I’ve had paramedics do every ED procedure you guys do and I can pay three of them for every one of you.

Not only are you part of the healthcare problem, you will be the cause of your own professional extinction.

Hey, Next 2-3 weeks are going to be a bit brutal at work so no doubt the blogs will die down. I have noticed some interesting changes a work. My boss, a dyed in the wool dem, has realized that there are a lot more staff, nurses and physicians, who share my political views and practice ideals than anticipated. Fact is, a lot of people are coming around and seeing Obama for what he is–’Bout time! I wore a shirt to work with the constitution printed on it (Kohls) and when people asked, I said it was my anti Obama/Pelosi shirt and the back says “Try Reading it”. Of course, the shirt says nothing of the kind but they all wanted one-even my patients. Man, November is gonna be a really cool month.

I got a couple of bones to pick with anyone willing to stand still long enough.

First off, If you butt heads are really worrying about meteors and nuclear bombs ending the world, you need one to hit you in your panties. Yesterday there was a bunch of hoopla about a new cancer drug that on average will extend the life of prostate cancer sufferers (most of which are over the age of 70-on medicare) an additional 4 months. A dose costs thousands, the research for it-paid by higher healthcare costs, taxation and donations not going elsewhere, is in the millions. HOW MANY SCHOOLS COULD WE HAVE BUILT, HOW MANY MEALS COULD WE HAVE PROVIDED, HOW FAR COULD WE HAVE ADVANCED ENERGY RESEARCH, COULD WE HAVE DONE MORE ABROAD TO FOSTER WORLD PEACE?

People, get over the fear of death, embrace your religious or “all-natural” agnostic beliefs and stop the insanity. We are not broken, we are as we are by design. We live, we laugh, we love, we die–and if we don’t the race will perish one day. Its time to stop cancer, heart and kidney research and redirect the energy and resources into the betterment of mankind. Lets celebrate life and be happy with an expectancy of 70 years. We should strive and be proud to do our part to make the world a better place and then move on. Read some scripture or philosophy but open your eyes. It’s not about us, it’s about the human race.

Ok, now for something a little lighter.

“The Tea Party is Seriously misguided.”

Really?

Paul Revere, Hamilton, the constitution–are these misguided too?

I’m getting pretty full of people explaining away the method and products of Washington DC. America was founded with many of the beliefs of those in the Tea Party. Keep government out of our pockets and protect our right to commerce and the boarders. We are supposed to be a land of opportunity, for education, and healthcare, and homes, and jobs…The land of handouts and mediocrity–that was some place else. If you must provide it all, you must necessarily control it all and that is not freedom. We were guaranteed the freedom to succeed, or fail on our own merit.

These are some of the founding ideals of The United States of America. We also have the freedom to change however and if changing to become who we once despised, promoting the idea that we can bring equality to the individual with disregard for the whole, is the voice of the people now–then we need a constitutional convention, a new name, a new seal and new colors. But ya better dig out your redcoats and muskets cause it aint gonna be pretty.

It was once said that preservation of the US constitution was worth Laying down one’s life for.

God knows, many US citizens have done so.

Now we make excuses for an administration that wants to put us back in a boat and sail back for England. This government thinks signing laws without reading them is an OK thing. It also wants us to accept bribes and other trickery as legitimate way of moving along legislation. They lie to discredit others, use the race card at every opportunity, and would have us believe that our president’s OVERWHELMING socialist background is a quirk and has no relation to his practice agenda. Worst yet, he and his faithful openly disregard the constitution, suggesting its time has come and gone.

I think there are those still who believe the constitution is worth fighting for, not with bombs or other terrorist actions (no intended disrespect Freddie) but with the pen.  Vote an end to the current administration and congressional supporters and as a parting gift lets give them what they want: plane fare to Europe and French citizenship.

44 is far too young, especially if you have children. I’ll miss the Disney cruise when we dressed up as presidents, except for Greg–I think he was some fat hairy italian woman. I’ll miss the times we hung together and our children played; your son and daughter were born practically at the same time as mine. I’m sorry your husband left you but I’m happy you found another. I’m also sorry my wife and you had that falling out; she feels so guilty now. Lastly, I’m sorry you did not quit smoking, especially with your history of a clotting disorder, but that’s what you wanted and you knew the risks. You lived your life with flair and I’m happy for you now because you know so much more that rest of us do and I have faith that we’ll meet again.

What if your medical doctor said he would see you for an unlimited number of 30 minute office visits for $500/year. No insurance, no co-pays. Does not include any testing (none of which would be done in office anyway) or in-hospital care.

Plan # 2: I know of a nurse practitioner who has suggested this as a way to address the busy lifestyle of many young->middle age people: Home/work/school/dorm visits. Doctor or NP visits, does exam, draws blood  if needed. Mails back or faxes final report to the patient. Would have to be $100/visit (Medicare pays this at roughly $125/visit but if you cut out the billing expense you can drop the cost.)
